Our Lady Of La Salette On Thunderstorms Which Will Shake Cities In Turkey, France, Spain & Germany

It will rain with a fearful hail of animals. There will be thunderstorms which will shake cities, earthquakes which will swallow up countries. Voices will be heard in the air. Men will beat their heads against walls, call for their death, and on another side death will be their torment. Blood will flow on all sides. de Blasio DOOM: Turn Things Off IMMEDIATELY!!!!!

Outages spark de Blasio to ask NYC to conserve energy amid heat wave

Mayor Bill de Blasio urged New Yorkers to limit their use of electricity Wednesday as the ongoing heat wave led to blackouts across the city. “We need everyone to turn things down, turn things off immediately,” de Blasio said. “Don’t have lights on if you don’t need them.” The mayor delivered what he called the “urgent message” from City Hall as the temperature at LaGuardia Airport reached 98 degrees. “We do not want to see things go from bad to worse,” he said. “There’s a really big strain being placed on our electric system by this amount of heat.” The worst outage is in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, where about 1,700 customers are without power, de Blasio said. The mayor said he realized that “the situation has gotten tougher in the course of the day” after speaking with Timothy Cawley, president of the Con Edison energy company.“In the last couple of hours, they’ve come to the conclusion it’s a bigger challenge just because of the intensity of the heat, and, again, the cumulative impact of four days in a row, which is not typical,” de Blasio said. “We do not want to press the limits of the system. This is where we need to see a reduction in demand quickly to make sure we don’t run any risks.” Source

Our Lady Of La Salette On 10,000 Pigeons VANISH ....It Will Rain With A Fearful Hail Of Animals.

It will rain with a fearful hail of animals. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

"Woe to the inhabitants of the earth. There will be bloody wars, and famines; plagues and contagious diseases; there will be frightful showers of animals; thunders which will demolish cities; earthquakes which will engulf countries; voices will be heard in the air; men will beat their heads against the walls; they will call on death, yet death will constitute their torment; blood will flow on all sides. Who could overcome, if God doesn't shorten the time of trial? At the blood, tears and prayers of the righteous, God will relent; Enoch and Elias will be put to death; pagan Rome will disappear; the fire of Heaven will fall and consume three cities; the whole universe will be struck with terror, and many will allow themselves to be seduced because they didn't adore the true Christ living in their midst. It is time; the sun is darkening; Faith alone will survive. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

"Nature begs vengeance on account of men, and she shudders with dread, awaiting what must happen to the crime-stained earth. Tremble, earth, and you who profess to serve Jesus Christ, while interiorly you adore yourselves, tremble; for God will hand you over to His enemy, because the holy places are in a state of corruption; many convents are no longer houses of God, but pastures for Asmodeus and his own." Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

“At the first blow of His thundering sword, the mountains and all Nature will tremble in terror, for the disorders and crimes of men have pierced the vault of the heavens. 10,000 pigeons VANISH during 170-mile race from Peterborough to North Yorkshire - as breeders fear birds were confused by 'solar storm above clouds'

Anxious pigeon fanciers have appealed for help after up to 10,000 birds vanished during a race in Peterborough.  One breeder described the puzzling event as 'one of the very worst racing days in our history.'  The birds, many based in the North East of England, became lost in a race from Peterborough at the weekend. Their owners believe a 'solar storm above the clouds' may have disorientated the birds and thrown off their normally infallible homing instinct.  Around 9,000 birds from the North East alone were in the race and it is estimated that 40% of them didn't return home.  The full number from around the country hasn't yet been calculated but is thought to be between 5,000 and 10,000 missing.  Richard Sayers, based in Skinningrove, North Yorkshire, 170 miles from the race, says 300 birds are missing from lofts in the fishing village, where pigeon racing is a way of life to many.  Source

Birds are suddenly dying: What’s causing mystery illness in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana?
CINCINNATI — Songbirds are mysteriously dying across several states, including Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. So what's causing the sudden die-off? Scientists are scratching their heads.Since May, wildlife officials in various states have had numerous reports of several dead birds or birds with similar symptoms. If they're not dead, they're having symptoms of some sort of neurological issue. Puffy, swollen eyes with a crusty discharge are some of the symptoms spotted in the birds that are falling sick in parts of Cincinnati. "Lots of neurological-type issues with the eyes with blindness, feather loss on the head," Brian Banbury, Executive Administration of Info and Education for Ohio Division of Wildlife, said. The other qualifying indicator: dead birds. "It's primarily in the blue jays and the grackles — in that family group," Banbury said. Wildlife researchers say the birds tend to be younger, or even baby birds, but the science hasn't quite caught up to what the illness is or what's causing it. "Good evidence shows that it could be bacterial in nature, some sort of strange outbreak," Banbury said. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to be affecting all species of birds. "We've not seen anything in the poultry industry or birds of prey that we know of," Banbury said. Source

2.6 Magnitude Earthquake Baltimore

‘It Really Shook’: 2.6 Magnitude Earthquake Reported In Maryland, Epicenter Near Woodlawn

WOODLAWN, Md. (WJZ) — A 2.6 magnitude earthquake was reported in Maryland Friday afternoon, according to the US Geological Survey. The epicenter was one kilometer southeast of Woodlawn, Maryland.USGS officials updated their website Friday afternoon to show that the earthquake occurred at 3:40 p.m. at 39.316°N 76.721°W. It was at a depth of 2.5 kilometers. Governor Larry Hogan said that the Maryland Emergency Management Agency is coordinating with both Baltimore City and Baltimore County, and that no major injuries or explosions have been reported.

Woodlawn resident Ruth Goode was walking home when she felt the tremor. She thought it was an explosion. “I could feel it, the way it happened so suddenly I thought it was an explosion,” said Goode. “And then as I started talking to people they said ‘no, that was a tremor, it was like an earthquake.'” Goode said she’s thankful the tremors weren’t something worse. “It could’ve been worse, it really could’ve been,” said Goode. “But it wasn’t, so I thank god for that.” “I had the TV on while I was folding clothes, and then I just felt I rumble,” said resident Linda Reich. “The air conditioner had come on, but it wasn’t that. It was the house kind of shook for maybe three or four seconds, and it really shook. Tremors were felt in parts of Baltimore — including West Baltimore, Patterson Park, TV Hill and Woodberry — and also Baltimore County where it was centered. Dozens of callers reported feeling the tremor that only lasted a few seconds. Richard Ortt, Director of the Maryland Geological Survey, spoke to WJZ about what residents can expect following the earthquake. “We really don’t expect any kind of damage,” Ortt said. “Citizens that are reporting the earthquake say there was very light shaking and nothing more than that.” It is possible that there could be aftershocks over the next 24 hours, but Ortt said they will not be at a higher magnitude.  Source

Western Drought Brings Another Woe: Voracious Grasshoppers

Western drought brings another woe: voracious grasshoppers

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A punishing drought in the U.S. West is drying up waterways, sparking wildfires and leaving farmers scrambling for water. Next up: a plague of voracious grasshoppers. Federal agriculture officials are launching what could become their largest grasshopper-killing campaign since the 1980s amid an outbreak of the drought-loving insects that cattle ranchers fear will strip bare public and private rangelands. In central Montana’s Phillips County, more than 50 miles (80 kilometers) from the nearest town, Frank Wiederrick said large numbers of grasshoppers started showing up on prairie surrounding his ranch in recent days. Already they’re beginning to denude trees around his house. “They’re everywhere,” Wiederrick said. “Drought and grasshoppers go together and they are cleaning us out.” Grasshoppers thrive in warm, dry weather, and populations already were up last year, setting the stage for an even bigger outbreak in 2021. Such outbreaks could become more common as climate change shifts rainfall patterns, scientists said. To blunt the grasshoppers’ economic damage, the U.S. Department of Agriculture this week began aerial spraying of the pesticide diflubenzuron to kill grasshopper nymphs before they develop into adults. Approximately 3,000 square miles (7,700 square kilometers) in Montana are expected to be sprayed, roughly twice the size of Rhode Island. Agriculture officials had seen this year’s infestation coming, after a 2020 survey found dense concentrations of adult grasshoppers across about 55,000 square miles (141 ,000 square kilometers) in the West. A 2021 grasshopper “hazard map” shows densities of at least 15 insects per square yard (meter) in large areas of Montana, Wyoming and Oregon and portions of Idaho, Arizona, Colorado and Nebraska. Left unaddressed, federal officials said the agricultural damage from grasshoppers could become so severe it could drive up beef and crop prices. Source

Madagascar: Families Eating Mud Due To Worst Drought In 40 Years

Madagascar: Families eating mud due to worst drought in 40 years

Some families in southern Madagascar are reportedly eating mud as the country experiences its worst drought in four decades. The World Food Programme which made the shocking revelation said the worst drought in southern Madagascar is causing hunger and famine-like condition. Its director, David Beasley, who’s just visited the area, said that without immediate assistance more than half a million people would soon be “knocking on famine’s door”, with another 800,000 marching towards it. He said he was shocked by what he’d seen in southern Madagascar – children who were just skin and bones, families eating mud and the fruit of cacti because there was nothing else. Beasley called it a silent tragedy in a forgotten location.According to Beasley the crisis was being driven by climate change, with drought after drought forcing families to leave their homes, through no fault of their own. He is asking wealthy nations to assist in providing food for those affected by the drought in Madagascar. The south of the country experienced 50% of its usual rains during the October planting season last year. Between 1980 and 2010, Madagascar suffered 35 cyclones and floods, five periods of severe drought, five earthquakes and six epidemics. Source

Rogue Elephant Kills 16 People In India

Rogue Elephant Kills 16 People In India

A rogue elephant has killed at least 16 villagers in the past two months in central India after likely being expelled from his herd “for bad behaviour”, a wildlife official said Thursday. The mature male, believed to be 15 or 16 years old, has been on the rampage in the tribal Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand state ever since he was separated from the herd of 22 elephants. “It’s likely he was in heat and was expelled because of his bad behaviour or sexual rivalry with other males,” Satish Chandra Rai, regional divisional forest officer, told AFP. “We are studying his behaviour and a team of 20 officials is constantly trying to track him because our first priority is to protect the animal.” The elephant, which is now on its way back seeking to reunite with the herd, has managed to outwit officials with his sheer speed and unpredictability. On Tuesday, the tusker lifted an elderly couple with his trunk and battered them to death when they had ventured out before dawn. Rai said the elephant was only killing people who accidentally got in its way, got too close, or who tried to provoke it and take pictures. “He has not been breaking into houses or deliberately attacking people,” Rai said. “We want to see if he is accepted back in the herd. If he is not it will be proved he is a bad boy.” India has an estimated 30,000 wild Asian elephants — nearly 60 percent of the total wild population. In recent years there have been rising incidents of elephants killed by locals — and vice-versa — as humans encroach further into forest areas. Source

Hundreds Of Indonesian Healthcare Workers Contract COVID-19 Despite Vaccination, Dozens Hospitalised

Hundreds of Indonesian healthcare workers contract COVID-19 despite vaccination, dozens hospitalised

JAKARTA, June 17 (Reuters) - More than 350 Indonesian doctors and healthcare workers have contracted COVID-19 despite being vaccinated with Sinovac and dozens have been hospitalised, officials said, as concerns rise about the efficacy of some vaccines against more virulent virus variants. Most were asymptomatic and self-isolating at home, said Badai Ismoyo, head of the Kudus district health office in Central Java, but dozens were in hospital with high fevers and declining oxygen saturation levels. Kudus is battling an outbreak believed to be driven by the more transmissible Delta variant which has pushed bed occupancy rates above 90% in the district. Designated as a priority group, Indonesian healthcare workers were among the first to be vaccinated when the inoculation drive started in January. Almost all have received the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac, according to the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI). While the number of Indonesian healthcare workers dying from COVID-19 has decreased significantly – dropping from 158 deaths this January to 13 this May, according to data initiative group LaporCOVID-19 – public health experts say the Java hospitalisations are cause for concern.

"The data shows they have the Delta variant [in Kudus] so it is no surprise that the breakthrough infection is higher than before because as we know the majority of healthcare workers in Indonesia got Sinovac, and we still don't know yet how effective it is in the real world against the Delta variant," said Dicky Budiman, an epidemiologist from Australia's Griffith University. A spokesperson from Sinovac and Indonesia's ministry of health were not immediately available for comment on the efficacy of Sinovac's CoronaVac against newer coronavirus variants. Grappling with one of the worst outbreaks in Asia, with more than 1.9 million cases and 53,000 deaths, there has been a heavy toll on Indonesia's doctors and nurses with 946 deaths. Many are now experiencing pandemic fatigue and taking an increasingly laissez-faire approach to health protocols after being vaccinated, said Lenny Ekawati, from LaporCOVID-19. "That phenomenon happens quite often these days, not only within the community but also healthcare workers," she said, "They think because they are vaccinated that they are safe."

But as more cases of the highly transmissible Delta variant are identified in the world's fourth most populous nation, the data is starting to tell a different story. Across Indonesia, at least five doctors and one nurse have died from COVID-19 despite being vaccinated, according to the data initiative group, although one had only received their first shot. In Kudus, one senior doctor has died, said IDI, although it is understood he had a comorbidity. In the Indonesian capital Jakarta, radiologist Dr Prijo Sidipratomo told Reuters he knew of at least half a dozen doctors in the city who had been hospitalised with COVID-19 in the past month despite being vaccinated, with one currently being treated in ICU. "It is alarming for us because we cannot rely on vaccinations only," he said, urging people to strictly adhere to health protocols. Source

Poisonous Caterpillar Invasion! The Browntail Moths Invade Maine

Maine residents fend off poisonous caterpillars

While parts of the country deal with swarms of cicadas this summer, Maine is struggling with an infestation of an invasive species of caterpillar with poisonous hairs that can cause people to develop painful rashes and even breathing problems. The caterpillars, known as browntail moths, are about 1.5 inches long and have white dashes down their sides and two red dots on their backs. Browntail moths are most common along Maine’s coast and on Cape Cod, but they have been spotted this year in all of Maine’s 16 counties, said Jim Britt, a spokesman for the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. “People are finding them everyplace: on the ground, on the picnic table, on the electrical box, on the corner — you name it,” Britt said. “They are heavily present. Folks will see them all over.” “We are in the midst of an outbreak,” he said. Source

Black Man Darryl Fears Of Washington Post Claims Birds Are Racist.........

The birding community faces a difficult debate about the names of species connected to enslavers, supremacists and grave robbers. Corina Newsome is a Black ornithologist, as rare as some of the birds she studies. When she joined Georgia Audubon last year, the group’s executive director called her hiring a first step to “begin working to break down barriers” so that people from all communities can fully enjoy birding and the outdoors. But overcoming those barriers will be daunting. As with the wider field of conservation, racism and colonialism are in ornithology’s DNA, indelibly linked to its origin story. The challenge of how to move forward is roiling White ornithologists as they debate whether to change as many as 150 eponyms, names of birds that honor people with connections to slavery and supremacy. The Bachman’s sparrow, Wallace’s fruit dove and other winged creatures bear the names of men who fought for the Southern cause, stole skulls from Indian graves for pseudoscientific studies that were later debunked, and bought and sold Black people. Some of these men stoked violence and participated in it without consequence. Even John James Audubon’s name is fraught in a nation embroiled in a racial reckoning. Long the most recognized figure in North American birding for his detailed drawings of the continent’s species, he was also an enslaver who mocked abolitionists working to free Black people. Some of his behavior is so shameful that the 116-year-old National Audubon Society — the country’s premier bird conservation group, with 500 local chapters — hasn’t ruled out changing its name. An oriole, warbler and shearwater all share it. “I am deeply troubled by the racist actions of John James Audubon and recognize how painful that legacy is for Black, Indigenous and people of color who are part of our staff, volunteers, donors and members,” Source

Victor Tucker Jr., 30, Shot And KIlled Cashier After She Told Him To Wear A Mask......

How many people are dead because of the Masks?

Cashier slaughtered in supermarket for telling man to wear a mask

A cashier was gunned down inside a Georgia supermarket Monday simply for asking a man to put on a mask — and a retired deputy who intervened was also shot, authorities said. The afternoon horror happened at a Big Bear Supermarket in DeKalb, when the worker asked Victor Tucker Jr., 30, to mask up due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Tucker refused and got into an argument with the woman before leaving the store without making a purchase, the report and GBI said. The suspect then barged back inside and allegedly shot her in the head, authorities said. The cashier, who has not yet been identified, was later pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital, GBI said in a press release. The retired deputy, a part-time reservist with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office who was working security at the store, jumped in and returned fire, Dekalb sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cynthia Williams told the Journal-Constitution.Both Tucker and the ex-deputy, a former 30-year member of the force, were struck by gunfire, authorities said. Authorities said a second cashier was grazed by a bullet and treated at the scene. The former deputy was wearing a bullet-proof vest at the time and is in stable condition at Atlanta Medical Center, DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox said during a press conference, the newspaper reported. Tucker was arrested by responding deputies as he tried to crawl out of the front door of the supermarket, GBI said. He was also taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition. GBI said it is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting. Source

Hoover Dam Reservoir Hits Record Low, In Sign Of Extreme Western U.S. Drought

Hoover Dam reservoir hits record low, in sign of extreme western U.S. drought

June 10 (Reuters) - The reservoir created by Hoover Dam, an engineering marvel that symbolized the American ascendance of the 20th Century, has sunk to its lowest level ever, underscoring the gravity of the extreme drought across the U.S. West. Lake Mead, formed in the 1930s from the damming of the Colorado River at the Nevada-Arizona border about 30 miles (50 km) east of Las Vegas, is the largest reservoir in the United States. It is crucial to the water supply of 25 million people including in the cities of Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas. As of 11 p.m. PDT Wednesday (0600 GMT Thursday), the lake surface fell to 1,071.56 feet above sea level, dipping below the previous record low set on July 1, 2016. It has fallen 140 feet (42.7 meters) since 2000 - nearly the height of the Statue of Liberty from torch to base - exposing a bathtub ring of bleached-white embankments. The drought that has brought Lake Mead low has gripped California, the Pacific Northwest, the Great Basin spanning Nevada, Oregon and Utah, plus the southwestern states of Arizona and New Mexico and even part of the Northern Plains. Farmers are abandoning crops, Nevada is banning the watering of about one-third of the lawn in the Las Vegas area, and the governor of Utah is literally asking people to pray for rain. Firefighters are facing worsening conditions this summer - after nearly 10,000 fires in California alone during the last wildfire season burned 4.2 million acres (1.7 million hectares), an area nearly as large as Kuwait.

Droughts are a recurring natural hazard but made worse recently by an accumulation of extremely dry years for most of this century. Scientists say human-influenced climate change has exacerbated the situation. The rains that deluged the West at the end of 2015 - before the previous low-water mark was set at Lake Mead - were a mere respite from what is now a 22-year drought, the driest period in 115 years of record-keeping by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which manages water resources in the Western states. "Some states, especially parts of California and parts of the southwest, it's really quite extreme drought conditions," said Ben Cook, a climate scientist at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies. In his decade of farming in North Dakota, Devin Jacobson has never seen it this dry. Jacobson's 3,500 acres of mostly durum wheat, canola, peas and lentils near Crosby have seen little rain beyond this season beyond two inches in late May and a quarter-inch this week. "Another couple inches would put is in a pretty good spot, but there's nothing like that in the forecast right now," Jacobson said. Officials across the West are enacting emergency measures. Wednesday, Arizona's governor declared an emergency after two fires burned more than 145,000 acres and triggered evacuations. Arizona is "in a completely unique situation relative to our historical records," said Michael Crimmins, a University of Arizona climate scientist. "We're just desperately looking to the forecast to see when the monsoon might show up."

Lake Mead

The Bureau of Reclamation is likely to declare Lake Mead's most extreme shortage condition for the first time ever, which would cut water supplies to Arizona, Nevada and Mexico, spokesperson Patti Aaron said. Arizona could have its supply cut by 320,000 acre-feet, Aaron said. That is a year's supply for nearly 1 million households, according to the Arizona Department of Water Resources. California Governor Gavin Newsom, facing a recall election, has issued a drought emergency proclamation for 41 of the state's 58 counties, empowering the state to take greater control over water resources. But he so far has stopped short of measures taken by his predecessor Jerry Brown in 2015, when California ordered mandatory water use reductions that affected voters. For now, water management mostly concerns agricultural businesses, which consume up to 80% of California's water. Some farmers are switching to less thirsty crops or letting land go fallow. The Regional Water Authority, which represents water providers serving 2 million people in the Sacramento area, is recommending providers drill more wells for now, a short-term solution, and is asking customers to voluntarily reduce consumption 10%. Jay Lund, a professor at the University of California Davis and director of its Center for Watershed Sciences, warned some of the more dire predictions were hyperbolic, saying Californians generally comply with mandatory and voluntary reductions in water usage, enabling the state to survive until the rains come again. "There's going to be a lot of pain in this drought," Lund said. "It'll be catastrophic for some communities and for some local industries. It'll be catastrophic for some fish species. But it's not going to be catastrophic statewide." Source

Western Romania: Part of Bigăr waterfall collapses

A wall of the Bigăr waterfall, located in the Cheile Nerei – Beușnița National Park, collapsed on June 7, forest management company Romsilva announced. The waterfall is one of the most visited sites in Caraș-Severin county, in southwestern Romania. The approximately four-meter tall wall collapsed because of natural causes, Romsilva said.

“The Bigăr waterfall formed in time, through calcium carbonate deposits from the waters of Bigăr spring, which were covered with moss. The calcium carbonate petrifies the moss, which regenerates with new layers of living moss; a waterfall of this type continuously increases in size. The Bigăr waterfall reached considerable dimensions in weight and volume and collapsed under its weight,” Romsilva said in a release on June 8. A video showing the collapse of the wall can be seen here. Romsilva gave the example of the Moceriș waterfall, also located in the Cheile Nerei – Beușnița National Park, which collapsed in a similar manner, and said the waterfall would regenerate in time. PROPHECY OF MELANIE ON TWO POPES:

"I didn't see, I don't see any Great Pope or Great Monarch before an extremely great tribulation, horrifying, terrible and general for all Christendom. But before that time, twice there will be a short lived peace; TWO shaky, servile, doubtful popes" Mélanie

REMEMBER - THE 35+ YEARS WORTH OF CHASTISEMENTS DO NOT START UNTIL THE TWO POPES ARE DEAD......

“The great chastisement will come, because men will not be converted; yet it is only their conversion that can hinder these scourges. God will begin to strike men by inflicting lighter punishments in order to open their eyes; then He will stop, or may repeat His former warnings to give place for repentance. But sinners will not avail themselves of these opportunities; He will, in consequence, send more severe castigations, anxious to move sinners to repentance, but all in vain. Finally, the obduracy of sinners shall draw upon their heads the greatest and most terrible calamities. Mélanie

“We are all guilty! Penance is not done, and sin increases daily. Those who should come forward to do good are retained by fear. Evil is great. A moderate punishment serves only to irritate the spirits, because they view all things with human eyes. God could work a miracle to convert and change the aspect of the earth without chastisement. God will work a miracle; it will be a stroke of His mercy; but after the wicked shall have inebriated themselves with blood, the scourge shall arrive Mélanie

“What countries shall be preserved from such calamities? Where shall we go for refuge? I, in my turn, shall ask, What is the country that observes the commandments of God? What country is not influenced by human fear where the interest of the Church and the glory of God are at stake? (Ah, indeed! What country, what nation upon earth?) In behalf of my Superior and myself, I have often asked myself where we could go for refuge, had we the means for the journey and for our subsistence, on condition that no person were to know it? But I renounce these useless thoughts. We are very guilty! In consequence of this, it is necessary that a very great and terrible scourge should come to revive our faith, and to restore to us our very reason, which we have almost entirely lost. Mélanie

Turkey President Erdogan Vows To Solve 'Sea Snot' Outbreak

Turkey president Erdogan vows to solve 'sea snot' outbreak

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised to save the country's shores from "sea snot" building up in its waters. A thick, slimy layer of the mucus-like matter is spreading along the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul, damaging marine life and the fishing industry. Experts blame pollution and climate change. "Hopefully, we will save our seas from this mucilage calamity," President Erdogan said. "Sea snot", or marine mucilage, is a naturally-occurring green sludge that forms when algae is overloaded with nutrients as a result of hot weather and water pollution. It was first found in Turkey in 2007 but has also been discovered in the Aegean Sea near Greece. Turkey's recent outbreak along large areas of the Sea of Marmara, which connects the Black Sea to the Aegean Sea, is believed to be the biggest in history and is causing havoc for local communities. President Erdogan blamed untreated sewage being dumped into the sea, as well as rising temperatures, and urged officials to investigate. "My fear is, if this expands to Black Sea... the trouble will be enormous. We need to take this step without delay," he said.  Source

More than 600 earthquakes have shaken the California-Mexico border since Saturday -- the largest registering 5.3

(CNN) More than 600 small earthquakes have been recorded this weekend in a rural area near the Salton Sea in Southern California, with the largest having a magnitude of 5.3, a US Geological Survey geophysicist told CNN. Geophysicist Randy Baldwin said 603 temblors with a magnitude of at least 1 happened in the area from Saturday to just before sunrise Sunday. The quakes were centered near Calipatria, along the San Andreas Fault and about 30 miles north of the Mexican border, the USGS map shows. The area is not heavily populated and has been known to have "swarms in the past," USGS seismologist Paul Caruso told CNN on Saturday.A CNN crew in Orange County said they did not feel any of the quakes Saturday. Four of the quakes measured greater than magnitude 4, and 29 were greater than magnitude 3, Baldwin said. Elsewhere, two 5.9 magnitude earthquakes struck in the Pacific Ocean around 89 and 98 miles west of the coastal town of Gold Beach, Oregon, after 1 a.m. PT Friday, the USGS reported. Source
