Eastern Equine Encephalitis: Stay Inside At Dawn And Dusk And Do NOT Touch Dying Birds

Woe to the inhabitants of the earth! There will be bloody wars and famines, plagues and infectious diseases. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

EEE fears sweep US: Officials in 3 states warn residents to stay inside at dawn and dusk and to NOT touch dying birds

Officials in New Jersey, Michigan and Massachusetts are advising people to cancel end-of-summer picnic dinners and stay indoors at dusk and dawn to stay safe from EEE-carrying mosquitoes. EEE - Eastern equine encephalitis - is a virus carried by the insects which causes severe brain swelling and is deadly in 30 percent of cases. It's historically rare, striking some 10 horses and people, respectively, a year. Until this year, that is. Cases have been surging in the US as rising temperatures drive mosquito population booms. Bites are the primary way the bugs transmit the disease to humans, but officials in one Massachusetts town are begging residents not to touch dead birds that may be infected. Source

“The great chastisement will come, because men will not be converted; yet it is only their conversion that can hinder these scourges. God will begin to strike men by inflicting lighter punishments in order to open their eyes; then He will stop, or may repeat His former warnings to give place for repentance. But sinners will not avail themselves of these opportunities; He will, in consequence, send more severe castigations, anxious to move sinners to repentance, but all in vain. Finally, the obduracy of sinners shall draw upon their heads the greatest and most terrible calamities. Mélanie

“We are all guilty! Penance is not done, and sin increases daily. Those who should come forward to do good are retained by fear. Evil is great. A moderate punishment serves only to irritate the spirits, because they view all things with human eyes. God could work a miracle to convert and change the aspect of the earth without chastisement. God will work a miracle; it will be a stroke of His mercy; but after the wicked shall have inebriated themselves with blood, the scourge shall arrive Mélanie

“What countries shall be preserved from such calamities? Where shall we go for refuge? I, in my turn, shall ask, What is the country that observes the commandments of God? What country is not influenced by human fear where the interest of the Church and the glory of God are at stake? (Ah, indeed! What country, what nation upon earth?) In behalf of my Superior and myself, I have often asked myself where we could go for refuge, had we the means for the journey and for our subsistence, on condition that no person were to know it? But I renounce these useless thoughts. We are very guilty! In consequence of this, it is necessary that a very great and terrible scourge should come to revive our faith, and to restore to us our very reason, which we have almost entirely lost. Mélanie

Laudato Si' Church: Teen Climate Activist Greta Thunberg Speaks In NYC After 15-Day Yacht Trip From England

“Evil books will be abundant on earth and the spirits of darkness will spread everywhere a universal slackening of all that concerns the service of God. They will have great power over Nature: there will be churches built to serve these spirits. People will be transported from one place to another by these evil spirits, even priests, for they will not have been guided by the good spirit of the Gospel which is a spirit of humility, charity and zeal for the glory of God. On occasions, the dead and the righteous will be brought back to life. (That is to say that these dead will take on the form of righteous souls which had lived on earth, in order to lead men further astray; these so-called resurrected dead, who will be nothing but the devil in this form, will preach another Gospel contrary to that of the true Christ Jesus, denying the existence of Heaven; that is also to say, the souls of the damned. All these souls will appear as if fixed to their bodies). Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

Our Lady of La Salette On Montana Hailstorm Slaughters 11,000 Birds...It Will Rain With A Fearful HAIL Of Animals.

It will rain with a fearful hail of animals. There will be thunderstorms which will shake cities, earthquakes which will swallow up countries. Voices will be heard in the air. Men will beat their heads against walls, call for their death, and on another side death will be their torment. Blood will flow on all sides. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

Montana hailstorm slaughters 11,000 birds

Thousands of birds were killed on Aug. 11 when a destructive hailstorm lashed regions northwest of Billings, Montana. According to Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, the supercell thunderstorm "killed and maimed more than 11,000 waterfowl and wetland birds at the Big Lake Wildlife Management Area west of Molt." Molt is about 20 miles west-northwest of Billings, Montana's largest city. According to the release, biologist Justin Paugh estimates that roughly a quarter of the birds at the lake were injured or killed. About 5% of surviving ducks and a third of living pelicans/cormorants "show some sign of injury or impaired movement." The Storm Prediction Center had already been calling for potential large, damaging hail as early as 12 hours in advance, outlining Billings in a narrow corridor of "significant severe" potential. Their morning bulletin advised that volatile atmospheric parameters would "favor supercells initially with large hail and possibly a couple of tornadoes." By late afternoon, storms had developed, quickly becoming severe. Some storms towered to nearly 10 miles high. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Molt at 6:27 p.m., alerting of the potential for golf ball-sized hail and damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. The storm proved to be an overachiever, bringing an unusual August episode of three-inch hail and winds gusting up to 74 mph. "This isn't uncommon for us, but it normally happens in June," explained Shawn Palmquist, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Billings. "June is when we have lower freezing levels and can get hail. August is typically more a wind month." Source

In Brazil, Sudden DARKNESS Befalls Sao Paulo, Baffling Thousands....

In Brazil, sudden darkness befalls Sao Paulo, baffling thousands

RIO DE JANEIRO - In the height of daytime on Monday, the sky suddenly blackened, and day became night in Sao Paulo.

Sure, smog is bad in the Western Hemisphere's largest city, where traffic jams can stretch for dozens of miles. But not this bad. What was going on? Was the end near?

"Apocalypse!" one person cried on Twitter.

"The final judgment is coming!" another added.

"Mordor," one more person intoned.

Experts tried to puzzle it out, but their conclusions at times appeared to be conflicting, deepening the mystery. The National Institute of Meteorology said the city, which sits at an elevation of 2,500 feet, was "inside a cloud." Others explained that it was a cold front. Metsul, a Brazilian meteorology company, said the culprit was smoke that had come in from forest fires in Bolivia, Paraguay and remote parts of Brazil.

In fact, it appeared to be a combination of all three factors - clouds, smoke and a cold front - that ushered in the smoke from distance reaches, plunging the city into darkness in the middle of the day.

"The smoke didn't come from fires in the state of Sao Paulo, but from very dense and wide fires that have been happening for several days in [the state of] Rondonia and Bolivia," Josélia Pegorim, a meteorologist with Climatempo, said in an interview with Globo. "The cold front changed direction and its winds transported the smoke to Sao Paulo."

The news highlighted the number of forest fires in Brazil, which rose by more than 80 percent this year, according to data released this week by the National Institute of Space Science.

"This central Brazil and south of the Amazon Rainforest region has been undergoing a prolonged drought," Alberto Setzer, a researcher at Inpe, said in an interview with local media outlets. "And there are some places where there has not fallen a drop of rain for three months."

Most of the Amazon was once considered fireproof, but as climate change and deforestation remakes the world, wildfires are increasing in frequency and intensity, recent research has shown.

"Wildfires in the Amazon are not natural events, but are instead caused by a combination of droughts and human activities. Both anthropogenic climate change and regional deforestation are linked to increases in the intensity and frequency of droughts over Amazonia," British researchers wrote this year in the Conversation. Our Lady Of La Salette On Phish's PLAGUE - Plague-Infected Prairie Dogs

Camping is canceled at Phish's Colorado concerts. Blame the plague-infected prairie dogs

CNN) The good news: A weekend of Phish concerts will go on as scheduled at a soccer stadium outside Denver. The bad: There will be no overnight camping. Thank the plague for that. Yes, that plague, the Black Death, the one that killed an estimated 60% of the medieval European population and, centuries later, millions more. Even for a fanbase long adjusted to curveballs, the situation unfolding in the prairie dog colonies that surround Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, is a new one. Fans had been dreading the announcement that Phish made Tuesday, saying camping would not be permitted due to an outbreak of plague among the prairie dogs. Source

Three people have been killed and at least two others injured after a cliff collapsed just feet away from a lifeguard tower in California on Friday, authorities have said.  The tragic incident occurred around 2:55pm local time on Grandview Beach in Encinitas, just north of San Diego.  First responders, including lifeguards, raced towards the wreck and began digging victims out from beneath the rubble.  A female victim, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two other victims were airlifted to hospital in a critical condition but later died, officials revealed early Saturday morning.    One other victim was transported to hospital in an ambulance to be treated for a series of minor injuries.  'It has now been confirmed that two of the three victims that were transported to local area hospitals earlier today have succumbed to their injuries,' a statement from the city read.

Mélanie

The Editors Bloomberg: Ebola Outbreak Is U.S. National Security Threat...

Congo’s Ebola Outbreak Isn’t Just Congo’s Problem

(Bloomberg Opinion) -- In 2014, the U.S. led the effort by governments to blunt the world’s biggest outbreak of Ebola, which took more than 11,000 lives in West Africa before it was declared over in mid-2016. Now, a smaller but more complex outbreak rages in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the U.S. response has been shaped by indifference and bureaucratic haggling. The consequences are potentially disastrous, and not just for those immediately at risk.

Why the Latest Ebola Outbreak Raises Fears

So far, nearly 2,700 cases have been reported and almost 1,800 have died. Uganda has counted three cases near its border with the DRC, and two have been reported in Goma, a city of more than two million that has a busy border with Rwanda and an international airport. The chief medical officer of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently told a Senate panel, “the outbreak is not under control.” Last week, the World Health Organization said it will need $324 million to fight the disease over the next six months, about three times more than it’s been given.

President Donald Trump has failed to respond with urgency. (No great surprise: During the West African outbreak in 2014, he faulted President Barack Obama for sending U.S. personnel, saying “perhaps the president should put all Africans on Obamacare rather than sending the troops.”) His administration eliminated the global health-security portfolio from the National Security Council and announced plans to take away $252 million in leftover Ebola funds the day after the new outbreak began. Fortunately, it changed its mind on the funding, and Congress restored funding for many of his planned cuts to global health spending.

Now the U.S. is hesitating about granting a waiver to Congo under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act to allow it to access tens of millions of dollars that would help in the response. Despite pleas from the World Health Organization, the State Department has yet to allow CDC staff to go into the field, citing security concerns. (Personnel from nongovernmental organizations already face many of the same risks.)

There’s a risk that the outbreak will spread in crowded urban areas in the heart of Africa. If that possibility is unpersuasive, there’s also a risk to the U.S.: Regional turmoil is enlarging the trickle of refugees from Congo showing up at the southern border. The U.S. should lift restrictions on aid, as Senator Bob Menendez has called for, and help CDC deploy its skills. It should spur a new global effort – partnering for this purpose with China, Congo’s biggest foreign investor.

To be sure, this emergency presents severe difficulties. It has affected provinces plagued by violence perpetrated by dozens of militias. More than 15 years after “Africa’s world war” took millions of lives, the DRC still hosts the United Nations’ biggest peacekeeping mission. The afflicted provinces have also been victims of official neglect and repression. Public mistrust is so intense that some see Ebola as a fraud or government conspiracy. Responders and health-care facilities have been attacked.

This underlines the need to combine an effective emergency response with stronger pressure for political reform and better government. Greater support for the UN’s peacekeeping mission would help; the administration’s reflexive effort to wind it down will not. Senator Lindsey Graham called the new epidemic “a case study – Exhibit A – of why you can’t withdraw from the world.” He’s right. The U.S. can’t solve Congo’s problems, but it can’t afford to ignore them, either.
