Inmate dies after viral outbreak at Putnamville Correctional Facility 

INDIANAPOLIS -- One inmate at Putnamville Correctional Facility has died after a viral outbreak at the prison.

The superintendent of the prison says 18 patients began to show flu or pneumonia-like symptoms at the beginning of last week.

They were admitted to an observation unit as part of the Indiana Department of Correction's influenza control plan.

Nine were sent to Terre Haute Regional Hospital after their symptoms got worse. One of those patients died last Friday.

Currently, 25 patients are under observation, 11 are in the facility's healthcare unit, 14 are at Terre Haute Regional Hospital's detention center, and four have been admitted to their ICU unit. Indy Channel Read More>>>>>

A baby girl has been born in India without a head that has left her with shockingly protruding eyes.

Savita Rani, 32, from Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh, in northern India, gave birth to her ‘miracle baby’ on Tuesday after a natural birth.

As Zika virus spreads, El Salvador asks women not to get pregnant until 2018 

MEXICO CITY — The rapid spread of the Zika virus has prompted Latin American governments to urge women not to get pregnant for up to two years, an extraordinary precaution aimed at avoiding birth defects believed to be linked to the mosquito-borne illness.

What until recently was a seemingly routine public health problem for countries that are home to a certain type of mosquito has morphed into a potentially culture-shaping phenomenon in which the populations of several nations have been asked to delay procreation. Birth defects in Latin America spark Zika virus panic

Sao Paulo (AFP) - Alarm over thousands of birth defects blamed on the mosquito-borne Zika virus spread Friday, as the United States expanded a travel warning for pregnant women.

With the sting of a mosquito bite and a fever, many pregnant women may not know that they caught the Zika virus -- until it strikes their unborn child.

Now authorities in some Latin American countries are warning women to avoid getting pregnant for fear of the virus.
